setstage 65bdf 200 will add the thane weapon to your inventory, spawn the housecarl in honeyside and will give the option to say you are thane when a guard in riften tries to arrest you.

This particular Thane quest is the only one with such a colloquial name the others are more relevant to their respective Holds While the quest is listed under I Done Got Thaned in the Creation Kit, the Official Game Guide refers to it as Thane of the Rift.

This bug is fixed by version 1.4 of the Official Skyrim Patch I go to the Jarl of Riften (who by the way is *Spoiler Alert* now Maven Blackbriar and no longer Laila Law-Giver because I decided to do the Reunification of Skyrim quests which thus displaces any Stormcloak sympathizing Jarls) who does not even address the issue. After purchasing the house, immediately speak with the Jarl to avoid this bug. Visiting Honeyside for the first time before becoming named Thane of Riften may prevent you from ever being able to be named Thane of Riften.
